The most beautiful thing I've seen was in eastern Montana. This shot reminds me of that view, of that feeling, of that moment in life set aside like frames on the floor of some cosmic editing room. Superb. Utterly fantastic.
I know what you mean, that Holodeck kind of feeling - like it's too real to be real so it just becomes surreal. I sometimes get the feeling that I'm in some grand studio when confronted by a vast landscape - especially if it's really still and quiet.
I'd love to se Montana. I'm planning to do a road trip across the states in a year or two - the mid-west looks like an ancient and humbling place, which is why I love the outback too.
I love the textures and the contrasting colors in this! The road and the ground seem coarse, and just very representative of 'Earth'. In contrast, the sky is soft and vibrant. A detail that I really like are the two hills in the distance. One looks like the earth while the other has tones reflecting the sky. Great work!
Thanks - yes it was a tough decision - more sky would have given a nice balance but the road was what seemed to make for the most dramatic perspective. In the end I just broke the cardinal rule and went half and half!
Many thanks for your perspective on it!
